I've spoken a time or three on the topic of my dear room-mate The Parasite King, and since it's a topic people seem fascinated by in a sort of horrified way, I see no reason why I ought to deprive you goodly folks of more tales of my amazing cohabitation with him that you, my gentle readers, can marvel at and in some small way appreciate further your good fortune in living with anybody else, or perhaps more fortunately yet, nobody at all.

I found an ex from college on Facebook.
We're now friends. He's doing really really well. That's totally awesome.

Just so you know, if I end up knocked up one day, I'm naming my children after Greek rhetorical devices. Chiasmus is the current favorite, but Irony is a great 'trendy' name.

http://strategicsorcery.blogspot.com/2009/11/secret.html After a couple years now of people blathering about the secret like it is the worst (or occasionally the best) possible thing on earth I am finally going to read it. I just picked up a hardcover for $6 at the used book shop in Doylestown PA.
I'll share my thoughts on it when i am done, but I expect it to be like most "New Thought" derived products - good mental tech that equates to rudimentary mental magick, but lacks any emphasis on real world work. This flaw is no big deal though, its the flaw in most books on magick, and even most magical systems. That flaw, more than anything else is what caused me to write the Sorcerer's Secrets; to show that workings need to be followed by work or they dont work.
Some people hate New Thought products lile this because they can also lead people to the unfortunate conculsion that if good things happen to people because they are positive, than bad things happen to people because they are negative. This is a serious flaw, but again is present in most asian cultures that accept "karma" and also Calvinist cultures. People suffer because 1. They are negative thinkers 2. are experiencing karma from previous actions 3. god pretty much hates their guts. All three are a cop-out of course.
Some people, a lot in the occult community I would bet, hate the Secret because of the packaging and the high price tag. Something that is slick and appealing to the mainstream couldnt possibly have as much value as the hard to find, leatherbound edition of a book written 300 years ago that only the "elect" can understand right?
Like I said, I havent even read it yet. I dont have any opinion of it. Just doing a bit of marketing research here, but I do find the reasons that people like/dislike things to be very interesting.

Just so you know, sblmnldrknss knows that "comic books aren't challenging."
Reading should only ever be at age level or above and though she claims to read EVERYTHING in one comment, she is quick to later inform us that, in fact, she never reads children's fiction for fun because it is beneath her.
Apparently "if you're over, I don't know, 12, reading Harry Potter doesn't 'count' as reading anymore than reading People magazine 'counts' as reading." An interesting judgment from someone who has never read the books at all.
In that same vein, one doesn't have to actually KNOW about something in order to deem it unworthy in her world. she has never seen an episode of the Simpsons, but can claim with all confidence that it is juvenile because it involves animation. Also, all video games are childish.
And yes, this is the same person who would let a teenage daughter die after a botched abortion because abortion is wrong and getting her child medical help would make her morally culpable for the abortion.

Out in Texas right now. Family visit. For the road trip I brought "The Lost Symbol"(thanks Travis). What a fucking great book. Everyone should read it. It and other things have made decide to take first degree. finding sponsors and a place to take it, is my next step. I do have some ideas. Ok, that's all I have for now. Peace.

1) What's the most bizarre thing you've ever written about for money? Some foot fetish thing. I had to write alot of content for a foot fetish site one time with everything from genital torture, stomping to just tickling.
2) If you had the chance to offer an apology to one person you've wronged -- who would it be and for what? I already did. :) Life is way, way too short to leave those sort of things undone on your to do list.
3) If an eccentric millionaire (his name is Phil) approached you tomorrow and said, "I will pay for you and your family to live anywhere you want, and you are promised gainful employment once you get there" -- where would you go? New Zealand. Not sure why Phil's being so awesome, but hell, I'd jump.
4) If a different eccentric millionaire (whose name is Bill) said, "I will pay for you to change one physical feature about yourself," which would you choose? I'd remove about 75% of my tattoos. So I could have new ink done.
5) What is your favorite way to spend that mythical time when you have nothing else to do? Spending time in the forest. Honestly, I could walk through the woods of the state parks and probably never get bored or bothered. I feel more at peace deep in the woods than anywhere else.

This is a prayer ritual for those who smoke. I wrote it a while ago, but I thought I'd share it here.
A Small Ceremony for Smokers: For the Betterment of Themselves and Mankind $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ (Before lighting the cigarette, say this invocation) Supernal Lights come down Let the Beauty of Your Garments shine upon my Foundation As Rain falls to the Roots of a Tree planted in a Kingdom divided Let just an Echo of Your Ineffable and Endless Name vibrate my Burning Core (Light the cigarette and say the following prayer) Hear my Voice on the bellowing billows of Smoke that Arise from my lungs Let my Words be pleasing to Your ears as I seek Truth to Guard them Watch my Body in its slightest of sways as I dance upon this Earth Let every Step delight You as I seek Honor and Grace to Motivate them Know my every Thought that flickers behind my face Let my Attentions make You silently proud as I seek to start them always with Awareness Let my Spirit be as the Purest Incense and the Brightest Flame upon the Stillest Water That I may be One with You and Know the Knowledge that has been hidden from me So that I may be in Harmony with All that Exists (As you finish smoking, think upon the words you have said) (As you extinguish the cigarette say the following) All things Change Therefore, so must I $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ END NOTES: This ceremony doesn't need to be performed every day, though there would be much benefit in that. Once a week is acceptable, but if you are a smoker then using one or two cigarettes from each pack in this ceremony is ideal. Also, reciting the Closing ("All things change, therefore, so must I") each time you extinguish your cigarette is a beneficial practice. Of course, you need not smoke tobacco. You may also use any preferred herbs, herbal blends, or any other preferred substance. This easy ceremony is perfect for smokers because they will more than likely smoke several times a day. Each time will be a reminder of the ceremony and the Ideas that it reinforces, especially if it has been practiced multiple times. If you do not wish to smoke anything, then you may alter the ceremony thusly: Take time to clear a small, isolated space. Set a candle or incense there; though a small candle floating in water with incense burning next to it would be better. Then take a moment to focus on what you are about to do and not think about anything else in your life before beginning. Also, if you think that what has been written here is nice but don't do anything to act upon the Truths that are conveyed, then you haven't benefited at all from it. If you don't actively live out what you believe, then do you really believe it at all? Saying you believe something isn't enough because Words are for conveying Ideas. But Actions are for bringing Ideas to life. A NOTE TO THOSE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN ANY GOD: This ceremony isn't only for those who believe in a "Higher Power;" this prayer doesn't need to be focused toward any "God." Instead, focus the "prayer" toward the very Source of your Existence. Every movement of your body is controlled by the processes of your mind. But what are the processes, movements, and thoughts of your mind controlled by? Find the Deepest part of your Self and aim the prayers there. Do this not in order to get into any mythical Kingdom of Heaven, but simply for the Inner Evolution of your Self, the Inner Evolution of Mankind, and the Fruitful Evolution of Nature. This meditation is simply to encourage Mindfulness and a Harmonious Attitude. People confess all of the time that they want the world to be a better place. It isn't impossible; it just takes a little effort. We can start by improving ourselves and the world around us. If everyone did this, then the world would actually be a better place.
